In 2021, Matt was unemployed, and we had moved in with his parents while we tried to find a job. It was a depressing time as nothing seemed to move forward. I had less to do at some point, and I started trying to find some hobbies. Anything to pick my spirits up. That is when I started drawing. One day, I discovered a new hobby. Memorizing lyrics to songs.
There was a song I liked, and I figured it would be fun to memorize the lyrics. I got hooked! I didn't know that I would enjoy something like that so much! It seems like a weird hobby, but it really makes me happy. It lifted my spirits that day, and so I memorized a few songs during that time. There was something about knowing all the words that made the song more interesting to me.
When I was starting my forty goals, I decided that I was going to memorize the lyrics to 40 songs. I would choose any song I liked and found interesting and work on the words. Driving in the car by myself became practice time. I think memorizing many songs on the piano, I had the patience to sing or say words over and over again.
I made a playlist on Spotify that I would add to anytime I came across a song I enjoyed. I now have a playlist of 40 songs that I love and know every word to. It was a really fun goal.
